The Prolight + Sound (PL+S) trade fair in Frankfurt, a major industry event launched in 1995, has been permanently discontinued after 30 years. Following an earlier announcement that it would merge with the Light + Building (L+B) fair in 2026, organizers have now concluded that even a dedicated themed area within L+B lacks sufficient demand. They determined this format could not deliver the expected value for exhibitors and visitors, leading to the difficult decision to end the Frankfurt edition entirely.
Moving forward, former PL+S participants will integrate directly into the relevant product sectors of the L+B fair, targeting professionals in architecture, lighting design, building technology, and facility management. While the Frankfurt chapter closes, the PL+S brand continues its global expansion with new events like PL+S Bangkok in 2026 and the established, large-scale PL+S Guangzhou.
